Salem Public Schools Family and Student Handbook (2021-22)

Please click here to access the 2021-22 SPS Family and Student Handbook.

Translation to Spanish is available here.

This handbook contains important information that every Salem Public Schools student and family should know including COVID-19 related health and safety information, the Salem Public Schools Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy, Attendance Policy and Procedures, Anti-Bullying Policy and Procedures, Student Dress Code, Responsibilities for Use of Technology, and more.

If you are unable to access the SPS FAMILY AND STUDENT HANDBOOK electronically, please contact your school to request a printed copy. See the above link for translations in Spanish. Should you need the document translated into another language, please notify your school front office.

It is the responsibility of each parent/guardian to read and understand the provisions contained within the family and student handbook and to discuss them with your child to ensure that they understand. By signing the back to school acknowledgments form, you affirm that you have accessed and taken time to read, understand and explain the contents of these important documents to your child.

In addition to the SPS Family and Student Handbook, each school has their own student handbook, which are available on the page for each school. Additional School Committee policies should also be reviewed which can be found in the School Committee Policy Manual.

Back to School Forms

In addition to the Family and Student Handbook, Salem Public Schools has developed online Back to School Forms to provide an easier, more efficient way for parents and guardians to complete and submit required annual information to their schools. Please check ParentSquare or ask your school's front office for access to complete the required Back to School Forms for your child's school.
