ALICE Parent Information Session

Salem Public Schools to Host ALICE Parent Information Session

The safety and security of our students is paramount.  With the support of the Salem School Committee, the district continues to further improve the safety of all.  Though we hope we never have to face an active shooter incident in Salem, we must do our best to prepare and train for such an event to ensure the highest level of safety for our students and staff.  In school year 2017-2018, the Salem School Committee endorsed the district to adopt and train our staff and students in ALICE.  ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate and is endorsed by federal, state and the Salem Police Department.

ALICE uses technology and information in a way so staff and students can make informed decisions in a crisis, remove as many people as possible from the danger zone, and provide training so that those involved in a crisis will have a better chance of surviving.

Over the past three years, all teachers and staff at our schools have received training in ALICE. They are provided on line training modules as well as individual school support, including observations and feedback from the Salem Police and Fire Departments.

We are hosting a community meeting for parents and guardians to answer questions and address concerns.
