We want to give you an update as it pertains to timelines and deliverables. Tonight at 5:30pm there will be a Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting of the School Committee. At this meeting tonight we will be presenting the initial school reopening plan that we will be submitting to DESE this Friday outlining the three options for reopening schools this fall: in-person, hybrid (some in-person, some remote), or fully remote. Here is link to the agenda and zoom link for tonight: https://www.salem.com/school-committee/agenda/committee-whole-salem-school-committee-meeting-july-29-2020-530-pm-revised

This includes:

Our feasibility study on school spaces
400 Words on each model (in-person, hybrid, and remote)

We will not be presenting every aspect of reopening tonight.

Next week, we will release our DRAFT plan for reopening to the public.

The full plan will be created with input from our executive team, staff, educators, pupil services, students, nurses, buildings and grounds, unions, the Salem Department of Health and more. In addition, the plan will be based on DESE guidance and science and health data. We hope you will take the time to read this draft. We will be providing a form to submit feedback.

On Thursday, August 6th, we will then have a special session of the School Committee allowing for public comment for feedback on the draft plan.

There will be another school committee meeting with public feedback on August 10th.

School Committee meetings will be broadcast on SATV.
